30. Lifegate Rehabilitation,
Beit Jala, is a charity with a goal to help the Gate of Life stay open
for disabled people, both very slow learners and those with severe
physical needs. They do assessment of needs, help with treatment, have
social rehabilitation groups with Muslims and Christians and organize
meetings for mothers of the disabled as well as provide income
generating project training. 13 men and 16 women currently develop
self-esteem and confidence as they are accepted and integrated into
various activities. Technical skills hopefully enable the youths to
find jobs outside the centre after initial training. Carpentry,
blacksmith, shoe repair, tailoring, knitting and traditional crafts are
taught. With our grant they bought equipment for a home worker.
