The AGM was due to be held in the Quaker Meeting House on 6 November. But we have had to take the difficult decision to hold the meeting entirely online because the House is not yet open for meetings. There’s no guarantee it will be by early next month, so the decision has really been made for us. We’ll likely use the Zoom online meeting software, and in due course the papers will be sent out together with a link that will enable you to participate via this remote meeting software. So please put the date in your diary – Friday 6 November at 7.30pm. If you need to have the papers sent to you in the post, please let Mike Frew, company secretary, know this via firstname.lastname@example.org, or phone the shop to ask for a message to be passed on.
The business of the AGM includes the presentation of our Annual Report and Accounts. The pandemic and other difficulties have delayed the preparation of this document, but it should be ready by then. We’ll also have reports from Ishaq our chairman and Khaled our shop manager. It had been hoped in addition to hear from the participants in the Study Tour earlier this year, but of course this had to be cancelled. Because of all the uncertainties of the last few months the Council decided not to have a guest speaker on this occasion.
Another important part of the AGM is elections to the Palcrafts Council. One or two Council members are stepping down this year, so there are vacancies! If you are a member of Palcrafts you can seek election or nominate someone to serve in this important way. Please ask for a nomination form by contacting email@example.com. And if you’re not sure if you are a member, just ask. As indicated in the June Newsletter we particularly need people with some experience in retail, fund-raising or finance.
We look forward to seeing you on 6 November!
